The World We Forgot to Witness

Somewhere between learning to name the world and learning to survive in it, we stopped truly seeing it. We learned to say “tree” instead of feeling its silent wisdom. We said “breath” instead of marveling at the miracle of being alive. We labeled everything, flower, sky, water, dog, body, and mistook the labels for truth. But when was the last time we paused… not to identify, but to behold?

We move through life surrounded by wonders disguised as ordinary things. A tree is not wood and leaves, it is patience, strength and majesty rooted in the earth. A flower is not decoration, it is beauty, art and essence expressing itself without words. A breath is not air, it is bridge between heaven and earth, an existence entering and leaving the body, moment after moment. But because we named them, we stopped looking, asking…seeking. Because they’ve “always been there,” we stopped listening, questioning.

And then life reminds us, not gently, but unmistakably.
When breathing is difficult, air becomes a miracle.
When hungry is intense, food becomes sacred.
When a loved one disappears, love reveals its true size.

Gratitude often arrives through the shadow of loss, but it doesn’t have to. We do not live in a world without miracles. We live in a world we have forgotten how to witness. Awakening is not about discovering what was missing, it is about remembering what has always been here. Every tree, every drop of rain, every mountain, every breath, every ordinary moment holds a depth beyond words.

Look again. Feel again. Let the world reveal itself as if for the first time, with the awe of a child. Notice how the sun warms your skin, how laughter softens the weight you carry, how breath invites you into your body. Life is whispering constantly. Deep inside of you, there is an intelligence waiting for you to come back home.

One day, everything you take for granted will be gone, your breath, your body, the people you love, the sky that never needed your attention. But you do not have to wait for loss to remember.

Wake up now. Every ordinary moment is a doorway into wonder. The question is not whether life is miraculous. The question is whether you are here enough to witness it, present enough to feel it, aware enough to experience it.
