Don't allow your wounds

Pain may touch you, but it must never define you. As Paulo Coelho wrote, “Don’t allow your wounds to transform you into someone you are not.”

Your past does not get to write your identity. What happened to you is not meant to trap you in victimhood. No matter how many times you’ve been hurt, do not let your wounds harden into anger, bitterness, or hate.

There is a saying: “If you do not heal from what hurt you, you will bleed on those who did not cut you.” Too often, those closest to us feel the weight of what we have not healed.

In Japan, there is an art called Kintsukuroi, mending broken pottery with gold. The cracks remain, yet they shine. The piece is more beautiful for having been broken. So, it is with you. It doesn’t matter how many pieces life has shattered. What matters is whether you remain broken, or whether you allow your healing to make you radiant.

You are not your wounds. You are greater than your pain. Like the Zen proverb that says, “Obstacles do not block the path; they are the path.” Your wounds are not detours; they are sacred steps of growth.

As Rumi wrote, “The wound is the place where the Light enters you.” Let the light in. Let it heal you, guide you inward to forgiveness, compassion, and love. For when you heal yourself, you begin to heal the world.

Every thought, every word, every action is a brushstroke of gold on the masterpiece of your life. Do not give up. Do not postpone. Each moment is a chance to polish, to create, to shine.

Your life is not just survival, it is art. And your greatest masterpiece is you.
