WHAT IS LIFE ABOUT… (PART 4)
Although most of us do not ask ourselves
this question very often, it is an existential question that has probably
surfaced a few times during our lives and, like most existential questions, we
may have pondered upon it but not long or deep enough to come up with a real
answer. Following is a simple guideline to use to find this elusive answer.
Life is about:
- the pleasantness of your experiences. By pleasantness, I mean: Are you able to experience everything that is happening to you pleasantly or are you still caught in the dualistic world of positive and negative experiences?
- the profoundness of your experiences. By profoundness, I mean: Are you still living to survive and accumulate (i.e., money, knowledge, power, fame, friendships, possessions, etc.) or are you seeking to transcend physicality and explore the full potentiality of this life?
- the impact that you have in the world. And by impact, I mean: Are you still working for you and yours (you and your family, group, country, etc.) or are you working to make a difference in the world, on what is needed?
For
most human beings, the quality of their lives is decided by what they do, but
the quality of our lives should not be decided by what we do, but by who we
are. If that is true, have you then pondered over who you are in reality?
