Ho’oponopono
There are words that can open doors in the heart. Words that are both prayer and medicine. Whisper them and something shifts within you. “I’m sorry. Forgive me. Thank you. I love you.”
This is the practice of Ho’oponopono, pronounced HO-oh-Po-no-Po-no. Not a ritual of the mind but a remembering of the soul. It teaches that life is not something happening “out there.” Life begins in you and is happening in you. What you carry inside reflects into your relationships, your work, your world. The pain you hold becomes the pain you bleed. And the healing you allow becomes the healing you offer.
You do not need to wait for perfection before you begin. These words are enough. They are simple, but they hold the power to soften resentment, to dissolve guilt, to bring light into places that have been dark for years. When you say them sincerely, you cleanse the mirror of your heart, and in that cleansing, the world itself begins to shine more clearly.
Think for a moment. Who comes to your mind when you hear these words? What situation still weighs on you? Where is there distance between you and someone you love? Or perhaps, where have you not forgiven yourself?
Say the words gently. Say them boldly. Feel them. “I’m sorry. Forgive me. Thank you. I love you.” Do not worry about who was the offender, you or someone else, or who was right or wrong. Do not wait for the other to change or repent. Begin with you. Healing does not flow from blame or from others. Healing flows from responsibility, from ourselves.
Every time you choose forgiveness over bitterness, you create space for peace. Every time you choose gratitude over complaint, you open yourself to abundance. Every time you choose love over indifference, you bring light into a weary world.
This practice is not only about others. It is about you. It is about remembering that you are not separate from life, but part of its great fabric. Your light touches others. Your healing heals more than just yourself.
So let these words live in you. Let them soften what is hard. Let them cleanse what is heavy. Let them awaken what has been forgotten. Let them heal what is hurt. Let them bring peace to your being.
Say them now, with sincerity. Live them. Let them cleanse you. Let them touch you. Let them free you. Let them purify you. Let them reconnect you to the magnificence of life. For in doing so, you are not only healing your past. You are shaping a future filled with peace, freedom, and love.
