RIGHT OR PRIVILEGE?

Image
Subscribe  There is a huge difference between rights and privileges. Unfortunately, in today’s society, especially with certain age, ethnic, religious, political, etc. groups, they think that they have the right to everything. Yes, it is true that we may have certain rights, but those rights are fragile and depend on the stability of the political, legal and justice systems of the place where we were born or where we reside. But whether we have rights or not, life is much more meaningful and beautiful, and has a completely new perspective, if we learn to see everything as a privilege instead of as a right. Although there is a clear distinction, it is, unfortunately, far too easy to get rights and privileges mixed up. Understanding the difference between them is critical for people trying to live within the law in a free society, where far too many lawmakers, lawyers, politicians, and journalists spend too much energy trying to blur the distinction between the two for th...

LETTING GO (2ND PART)

Image
Subscribe  The following two stories hit the target of “letting go” right in the bullseye. Each approaches letting go from a different perspective but both are right on point. Read them slowly and enjoy them for what they are, stories. Do not get stuck in your ideas or beliefs of God or religion. They are not important in this case. The clarity of the message is what is important, and the message is very clear in both stories. The Suitcase Story* A man died. Once he realized he was dead, he saw God coming closer with a suitcase in his hand. - God said: Alright son, it is time to go. - Surprised, the man responded: Now? So soon? I had a lot of plans... - I'm sorry but it is time to go. - What do you have in that suitcase? the man asked. - God answered: Your belongings, everything you own. - My belongings? Do you mean my things, my clothes, my money…all my possessions? - God answered: Those things were not yours, they belonged to the world. - Is it my memories…th...

LETTING GO

Image
Subscribe  For most people the concept of letting go can be hard to understand and, even worse, to put into practice. Letting go is basically the art or practice of opening the mind, heart and hands and letting everything go. It is about unclogging the way you think and live, simplifying life one step at a time. Simple! It is usually a spiritual (yogic or religious) concept or practice in which you are subtracting more than adding and where you are shedding and letting go of ideas, possessions, knowledge, control, fear, the past, etc. as you go, little by little, day by day. Letting go is a daily, constant practice of getting rid of and detaching from everything you think you want, need or own! It is not necessarily that you do not own anything and live in poverty. To the contrary, it is the practice of putting space between you and (distance yourself from) what you own, or think you own, including your body, mind, knowledge, money, possessions, relationships, fear, con...

HUMAN BLINDNESS

Image
Subscribe  When we hear, read or talk about “blindness,” we are usually referring to, or meaning, the state or condition of being unable to see because of injury, disease, or a congenital condition; ignorance; or the lack of perception, awareness, or judgment. But although this definition makes a lot of sense when seeing or hearing it for the first time, blindness’s breadth and scope can be much comprehensive if we were able to understand the types of human blindness and what they really mean. Let’s start by distinguishing between the three types of human blindness: physical, intellectual and spiritual. Physical blindness is the first form of blindness, the least important form of the three, but the one that we prize the most due to the human reliance on sight as the dominant sense. As described above, it has to do with the state or condition of being unable to see physically for any reason. We are built to collect information primarily with our eyes, so even reduced vi...
